History
Founded in 2007, the Domaine Benjamin Taillandier represents the new generation of winemakers in the Languedoc. Located in the village of Caunes-Minervois, Benjamin Taillandier chose to break away from the intensive viticultural practices of the region to focus on producing wines that respect nature and the unique terroir. In just a few years, he has become a key figure in crafting natural, authentic wines from Minervois.
Philosophy
Benjamin Taillandier’s approach revolves around creating “living wines,” free from artifice, that faithfully reflect the identity of their terroir. The estate is farmed organically, avoiding the use of chemicals. In the cellar, interventions are minimal: fermentations are conducted with indigenous yeasts, and little to no sulfur is added. This method ensures that each cuvée expresses purity and sincerity.
Terroir
The domaine spans 13 hectares of diverse soils, including schist, sandstone, and clay-limestone. These soils, combined with the altitude of the vineyards (up to 350 meters), contribute to the wines’ freshness, minerality, and aromatic richness. The Mediterranean climate, tempered by cooling winds, ensures optimal ripening while preserving the natural acidity of the grapes.
